(Video) How to Spend a Weekend in Durham

Posted by DCVB Staff on Aug 22, 2017 9:11:38 PM
How do locals spend a weekend exploring the Bull City? We gave Snapchat spectacles to a group of Durhamites for a first-hand look at their weekend activities. Here's the rundown of what they did:

1.  Durham Farmers' Market | 10 a.m.

This year-round farmers' market fills Durham Central Park with fresh produce, locally made products, and good times every Saturday morning. You can also visit the market on Wednesday evenings (3-6 p.m.)  during the spring, summer, and autumn.

2. Skate Park | 11 a.m.

Just up the hill from the farmers' market action you'll find a 10,000-square-foot skate park.

3.  Sarah P. Duke Gardens | 1 p.m.

Pack a picnic and good book for an afternoon spent basking in the 54-acre public garden, which is free and open to the public year-round.

4. Downtown Durham | 3 p.m.

Public art + ice cream at The Parlour + afternoon strolls. What could be better?

5. Courts at Anderson St. (Duke's West Campus) | 5 p.m.

Get a group of friends together for an afternoon shooting hoops.

6. SkyZone Durham | 8 p.m.

Work up a sweat at SkyZone, an indoor trampoline park with glow-in-the-dark jump sessions.

7.  21c Museum Hotel | 10 p.m.

Featuring a 24-hour art museum, this boutique hotel is high on style for both guests and visitors.

8.  The Pinhook | 11:30 p.m.

This LGBTQ-friendly bar and venue hosts trivia nights, karaoke, dance parties, and indie concerts.

9. DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center | Midnight

DPAC, one of the most attended theaters in the world, brings big-name performances and Broadway shows to the Southeast.

10. Carolina Theatre | Midnight

A historic Beaux Arts theater in the heart of downtown. Upcoming performances include Mac Demarco, Rufus Wainwright, and the Upright Citizens Brigade.

11. Brightleaf Sqaure | 11 a.m.

This historic tobacco district has been transformed into a shopping and dining district, complete with outdoor concerts in the summer.

12. The Pit | 12:30 p.m.

North Carolina calls for barbecue-filled Sundays. Dig in at The Pit, a modern barbecue joint just north of Central Park.

13. Fullsteam | 2 p.m.

Post-barbecue, head down the street for locally made beer featuring North Carolina ingredients like sweet potato and basil.

14. The Durham | 7 p.m.

Watch the sun go down from the roof of The Durham, a boutique hotel complete with rooftop bar. Grab a cocktail and toast to a fantastic weekend in the Bull City.
